Job Description

Duties and tasks

• Carry out a variety of tasks associated with the proper preparation, assembling and building of wooden furniture and fixtures, and repair damaged areas when needed.
• Maybe required to operate a variety of machines and tools to cut materials and assemble wood.
• Position furniture frames or door and window frames, nail and join front panels.
• Assist in transportation and organisation of carpentry tools, equipment and materials to and from work site.

Working conditions

Carpenters Assistants are expected to work from 8:30am to 6:30pm with two 30-minute breaks in the morning and afternoon and a 1 hour lunch break. A few days a month, we may have varied schedules according to customers’ needs and schedules. They may need to work in late evening or early morning hours to complete a job towards a deadline. The job requires a lot of heavy lifting and manual labour and the assistant should be able to withstand hot and sometimes uncomfortable working conditions.
